Community Supported Agriculture

Little River Flower Farm Community Supported Agriculture Shares:
The Freshest Vegetables Possible

Little River Flower Farm is now offering Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares on our farm to the general public for the 2010 growing season. A CSA share gives you the freshest vegetables possible and unites us, the grower, with you, the consumer. The program also gives you the chance for a close-up view of a working Maine farm while allowing us to better plan for the growing season with the necessary up-front investment to purchase the seeds and other supplies.

The many vegetables you will be able to enjoy include lettuces, Swiss chard, spinach, kale, boc choy, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, radishes, peppers, string beans, dry beans, carrots, summer and winter squash, beets, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, peas, potatoes, basil, parsley, cilantro, dill and strawberries.

We start by providing you with weekly vegetables in late May or early June and will continue for 18-20 weeks. Both the start and the end dates rely on Mother Nature. You may choose to have your vegetables delivered each week on Mondays, or you can pick-up your vegetables yourself on Thursdays.

Little River Flower Farm CSA Shares – General Information:

  • A 1/2 share feeds two people and costs $350 for the entire season.
  • One full share feeds four people (two adults and two children) and costs $550 for the entire season.
  • The optional delivery fee is $150. Group deliveries can help share the cost.
  • Shares are offered on a first-come basis and are reserved for you when you place a 50% deposit. The remainder is due by April 15.

We will be having two open farm days where we encourage members to participate in a working adventure on the farm. This experience will give you a close up of how your vegetables are grown, cared for and harvested. Enjoy a picnic in the gazebo or at the pond, then take a walk along the river and through the woods.

You will receive a weekly email of what will be provided along with an occasional recipe we have created and enjoyed.

We will be offering winter CSA shares and will post the information on our website this summer.

We would be happy to field any questions or comments via e-mail at LRFF@sacoriver.net or by calling Nancy at (207) 929-3967.
